My overall experience with Gigenet has been great. There were a few issues early on (when they just started their new data center) that have been resolved. These issues had to do with equipment failure for which the replacement was on order but not on hand. Another issue was a result of their upstream neighbor not configuring their router properly to stop a DDOS attack; however, Gigenet worked diligently with them to get it resolved both for the short and long term.
Their staff is very willing to help and is very responsive. They have rebooted machines for me, changed out tapes, and provide hands, eyes, and ears for me when needed. I switched to Gigenet from ANET because Gigenet keeps a body on site 24X7 which saves me drive time when issues arise. This is extremely important in that we host applications that 60,000 customers access and is considered critical to them. That plus 24X7 access via keycard and great up time makes it easier for me to sleep at night. I would, and have, recommended others to their facility.

I have to say, we likely hit two ends of the spectrum with our previous provider... bottom feeder... and Gigenet who have exceeded expectations even though we were introduced from an existing client, really. The facility itself is top notch. Our initial visit had a walk through with John Lee that was impressive showing all power (including back-up generator and battery transition), climate, security, and explanation of the Sonet Rings in place and availability of on-site support... very thorough.

We decided on a full-rack system and have literally had 45 minutes of down time in 7 months of service, all off-peak for scheduled maintenance - no surprises! Mind you, we've configured and installed all hardware/software so I cannot speak to their abilities in this arena but during these on-site installations (wee-hours) we used the key-card access without a problem, 24-365 staff available (super at making cables the ole scissor technique!) and helpful monitor/keyboard stands.

As the President of a company hosting over 250 sites and with 25+ ongoing projects on a development server at Gigenet, we rely on Gigenet daily and are extremely pleased with the level of service and commitment to making us look good.

The only caveats experienced are that billing is currently not available via a straight bank account (requires a credit/debit card) and that the statistics are currently not historical... not really much to say on the negative side.... these guys are top notch, the hook screams and is extremely solid.

Without a doubt the most efficient, capable and advanced host I've ever dealt with.

We have two dedicated servers with Gigenet, and from the ordering process until now everything has been rock solid. All maintenance issues that may effect network service are communicated well in advance to avoid disruption and from what I can see so far, these are kept to a minimum.

Gigenet's network and customer portals are also advanced and easy to use.

A highly recommended host without a doubt.

I would have given 4,5 stars but that is not possible.
First the good things:
Support at Gigenet is more than superb. When I had an issue or a question support
people at Gigenet answered in less than an hour. The answers on my questions where always to the point and very professional. Also, people at Gigenet give you this feeling like you are their only customer. Really (and I have experience with all kind of hosting companies), these guys are great!

The bad:
Some time ago a got this mail from Gigenet with info about their backup service. I would like to see this (and all other) services Gigenet has on my manage pages. So, if I want an extra service I could get it/ subscribe from the manage website.

The ugly:
In 5 months I was 4 times offline:
First, my bad, screwed eth aliasing --> quick fix via support (great job!)
2nd: UTP cable came lose, so no network (can happen, no big deal, issue was fixed as soon as I mailed Gigenet)
3rd: DDoS on some client (not me). I experienced really poor network connection for 2 days.
4th: UTP cable again. Fixed quick.

Everything except the DDoS was fixed as soon as I put a ticket. The cable thing shouldn't happen at all.

Conclusion: I would recommend Gigenet to everyone.

I've been with Gige since the beginning. Obviously I am satisfied with their service or I would not have stuck around so long. I use a lot of providers and I must say their network as well as filtering is second to none. Combine that with great hardware reliability as well as top notch technical support and fast service makes Gige a great company to choose for your dedicated server needs.

Gigenet has been one of the most knowledgable and helpful companies I have seen, not just in hosting. I've had a hard drive die and within 15 minutes a new one was up and running and ready for me to work on, all without charge.

Their staff are always very helpful and they look after their customers and employ very good technicians. I've been stumped a couple of times with upgrading certain things and even made a mistake which made my box unbootable, again, this was fixed up at no charge within 15 minutes.
