Board of Directors
Christopher Bailey
Prior to founding RatePoint, Chris was formerly a co-founder and chief technology officer of GeoTrust. At GeoTrust, Chris was responsible for the company's technology vision and product development activities with strategic partners, evaluating security technologies and market opportunities, and also managing the Company's advanced technology engineering group. Chris co-founded the company after acquiring technology from Equifax Secure, where Chris was AVP of digital certificate services. While at Equifax, he helped set the company's strategic direction and manage Equifax Secure's digital certificate service. Chris holds an M.B.A. in marketing and strategy from Emory University and a B.S. in finance and economics from the University of South Carolina
Larry Begley
Larry is the managing partner at .406 Ventures. He brings 29 years of senior management experience in technology and services industries and 8 years as an active director of 12 companies, including 5 public and 7 venture-backed companies. In connection with .406, he recently served as part-time CFO of ThingMagic, where he led the company's successful $19 million equity financing. Prior to ThingMagic, he was EVP, CFO and Director of CCBN.com, where he played a key role in the sale of CCBN to Thomson Financial for $150 million. He was EVP, CFO, Treasurer and board member of i-Cube and Razorfish, where he oversaw revenue growth from $9 million to $41 million in three years, the i-Cube IPO, underwritten by Morgan Stanley (named Massachusetts IPO of Year 1998), and the company's ultimate sale to Razorfish for $1.8 billion in 1999. He also served as CFO and Treasurer of The Boston Consulting Group during a period when the company grew from $100 million in revenue to $550 million and from a presence in 6 countries to 28 countries throughout Asia, Europe, Australia and the Americas.
Jeff Bennett
Jeff is an industry leader in the fields of social media and e-Commerce. As president and COO of NameMedia, he oversees all day-to-day operations of the company and serves on its board of directors. NameMedia is an industry leader in the acquisition, development and trading of digital real estate through a network of highly targeted websites and a marketplace for premium domain names serving an Internet audience of more than 70 million visitors each month. Jeff led the effort with Highland Capital and Summit Partners to acquire BuyDomains and develop the YesDirect Network that is the foundation
of NameMedia.
Prior to founding NameMedia, Mr. Bennett served in several executive roles at Terra-Lycos and Lycos, including executive vice president of corporate development and vice president and general manager of e-commerce. He founded the Lycos E-Commerce business and led this business unit to extraordinary growth that included establishing a 1,000 merchant and small business marketplace in six months. Jeff earned a bachelor of science degree, cum laude, from Bentley College in Waltham, Mass.
Jim Counihan
Jim joined Prism in 2000 and runs the firm's software & services practice. His focus areas are software as a service and MSP's, on-line exchanges, technology enabled services and technology enabled vertical plays. Jim is a director for Astoria Software, Chosen Security, White Sky, The New Orleans Exchange, Mota and RatePoint. He was formerly on the boards of Softricity, acquired by Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), GeoTrust, acquired by Verisign (NASDAQ: VRSN), and Silverback Technologies, acquired by Dell (NASDAQ: DELL).
Possessing a unique mix of legal, operational and technical knowledge, Jim complements and extends Prism's entrepreneurial and financial expertise. Jim joined Prism from EPiCON, Inc., where he served as Legal Counsel and Director of Business Operations. A Prism investment, EPiCON was sold to Nortel Networks in September 2000.
He has held positions in Corporate Legal Counsel and Business Operations for Sapient Corporation. He also served as Legal Counsel for the Outsourcing Division of Bell Atlantic Network Integration, which during his tenure, grew into a $300 million business in four years.
A member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Jim holds a B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, a J.D. cum laude from Suffolk University Law School.
Neal Creighton
Neal is a co-founder and the Chief Executive Officer of RatePoint. Neal has more than a decade of experience in information security, identity verification, web authentication and certification markets. Formerly, as Co-founder, President and CEO of GeoTrust, Neal was responsible for providing the leadership, strategic direction and management for the company. Neal spearheaded GeoTrust's relaunch in 2001 when it acquired Equifax's security business, and strategically repositioned the company and its subsequent rapid growth. Neal led the efforts to raise $24 million in venture financing and sold GeoTrust to VeriSign (NASDAQ: VRSN) for $125 million in September 2006.
Neal also led the spin-off of ChosenSecurity from GeoTrust as part of the VeriSign merger agreement. Currently, Neal serves on the Board of Directors of ChosenSecurity and is the CEO of RatePoint, Inc. He is a noted expert in the identity verification / information security field and has been invited to speak at industry conferences to provide input to industry-related articles and reports. Neal considers graduating from U.S. Army Ranger School in 1990 his most meaningful professional experience. Neal received his B.S. from the United States Military Academy West Point, and holds an MBA and Juris Doctor from Northwestern University.
Nina Saberi
Nina Saberi is the founder and managing general partner of early stage venture capital firm Castile Ventures. An industry veteran with extensive investment and operational experience, Nina entered the venture community as a general partner of OneLiberty. She began her technical carrier at a start-up, went on to lead a successful joint venture, and then turned around a venture-backed company. Nina was the CEO of Netlink which was acquired by Cabletron in 1996, ranking among the top three acquisitions of the year.
In addition to RatePoint, Nina's serves on the boards of Agiliance, Ahura Scientific, Aurora Networks, ChosenSecurity, and North End Technologies. She led Castile's investment in Sonus (NASDAQ:SONS), Brix Networks (acquired by EXFO), GeoTrust (acquired by VeriSign), Network Intelligence (acquired by EMC), Trapeze Networks (acquired by Belden) and was the chairman of Quantiva (acquired by NetScout) and of Stargus (acquired by C-COR).
Nina is the past Chairman (2004-2006) of the Massachusetts Network Communications Council. Ms. Saberi is the Chair of the Advisory Council at the University of Rhode Island's College of Engineering where she received her BS in Electrical Engineering. URI honored Ms. Saberi with the 2007 President's Distinguished Achievement Award and in 2006 she was selected by Mass High Tech as a Massachusetts All Star in the Finance category.
